It’s that time of year again! Ryan Tubridy’s usual Friday night attire of a suit and tie is traded for an extravagant Christmas jumper, the kids have their goodies and Santa list ready and every relaxes on front of the TV for the annual Late Late Toy Show. There’s been plenty of moments from Toy Shows throughout the years that will stick with us forever. Here’s just a handful of Toy Show throwbacks that we all love!
‘Any Craic?’ ‘Níl’
Alex left us in stitches back in 2012 with his brief encounter with Ryan Tubridy. Whizzing along on his tractor, Alex answers a laid back ‘Níl’ to Tubridy’s question of ‘any craic?’. With his easy going attitude and his cúpla focail, Alex was one little farmer we’ll remember!
Up and coming fashion designer, Douglas
Douglas impressed both the audience and the viewers at home way back in 2012 with his sense of style and big dreams. Hoping to work as a fashion designer at Paris Fashion Week someday, Douglas had us all rooting for him. Giving his thoughts on Ryan’s sense of style, Douglas commented “you’re certainly nailing the Christmas look, I have to say.” If Douglas wants to give us styling tips one day, we’d have no problem!
Nikki’s No Nonsense Approach
We loved Nikki who had us full of laughter with her hands down honest approach. When Ryan asked if she enjoys third class, her undisguised reply of a simple ‘no’ made us burst with laughter. Not to mention when she told Ryan that her favourite thing to do with her friends is to laugh. Cuteness overload!
Aimee Keogh meeting her idol, Ed Sheeran
We almost shed a tear watching the 2014 show when Aimee Keogh was surprised by Ed Sheeran himself. When Aimee was giving it socks, singing along to one of Ed’s hits, Ed snuck up behind Aimee and began to sing along with her. Aimee was delighted, “I’m hysterical, oh my god!”. A reaction we’re sure plenty of us would have if it happened to us!
Our favourite Horologist
John Joe the Horologist captured the hearts of Ireland back in 2009 and it’s only because of John Joe that some of us actually know what a horologist is! John Joe was impressed, describing Ryan’s watch as ‘Next to Rolex’. Here’s hoping that John Joe still has a love for clocks!
Darragh and his little lamb
You could almost hear hearts breaking in 2016, when Darragh told his story about his pet lamb Tara. Telling us about how Tara was one of his best friends, the story came to a not so happy ending when Darragh informed us that “Daddy brought him to the factory”. The. Absolute. Cuteness.
In 2014, the hashtag #JusticeforOisin really got around. All Oisin wanted was the the underground Dart to go ahead. So, he wrote a letter to Enda Kenny and slipped a €5 note in too, for good measure. It turned out that Oisin didn’t get his wish, or his fiver back. Cue the horror from the audience and the viewers at home!
