We asked stylist Laura Mullett for a top summer trend that’ll be here to stay for Autumn/Winter. Her answer was ’70s Glam. Think Studio 54, fringing, jumpsuits and plenty of bracelets. We’ve styled her favourite pieces into some top looks that will work for this season and well into next season.
70s Style Fringing
One of the biggest fashion trends this spring/summer is fringing and Laura knows just how to use versatile pieces such as this black fringed waistcoat. For festival season pair with denim shorts and some trendy jewelry like this gorgeous flower jewel drop necklace and this funky bracelet stack.
If the weather isn’t all that ‘summery’ (which is a fairly realistic possibility in Ireland – just ask everybody who went to Slane!) you can wear the fringed waistcoat over a leather biker jacket, allowing you to pull off a cool rock chic look without getting caught out in the cold.
Of course, your legs will need to be covered up too should the weather turn bad on you. Laura recommends these distressed kickflare jeans which offer a great combination of elasticity and strong supporting fibres for maximum festival comfort. The jeans have a little bit of ripped shredding to them which brings a chilled out and casual vibe to your outfit. To finish off that 70s look, pair with a colourful boxy jumper.
The fringed waistcoat’s versatility isn’t finished yet though! You can easily throw it over your best LBD to create a sleek and stylish evening look that has just that little bit of cool edge to it.
70s Style Jumpsuits
If you want to exude a little bit of Hollywood glamour but still have that 70s chic vibe Laura recommends the jumpsuit, one of, if not the funkiest things to come out of this season’s 70s style revival.
Of all the jumpsuits in Littlewoods Ireland’s collections, Laura’s top recommendation is this black chain jumpsuit from Definitions. It bares a little bit more flesh than your usual jumpsuit but what really sets it apart from the crowd is its beautiful diamante detailing. The low back adds a sense of balance while the suit itself has a really good flow to it so it won’t swallow up your figure with too much fabric.
If the black jumpsuit is a bit too 70s super spy for your taste, there are plenty of other options to try out. Take this amazing white 2-in-1 Embellished Jumpsuit from Fashion Union, a real snow white beauty which is simply the epitome of glamour. The grab of the fabric allows it to work with a whole multitude of body shapes.
