Everything you need to know about the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Finals

With two spots in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final on the line, it is all to play for this weekend!

The Final Four

The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship has been thrilling and pulses racing so far this summer. Though the best is yet to come. This weekend almost 120,000 are expected to will through the turnstiles of Croke Park as not one but two All-Ireland Semi-Finals taking place.

Here is everything that you need to know!

First up will be Galway v Clare

Galway are the current All-Ireland Senior Hurling Champions and will line out on Saturday with full intentions of getting themselves back into an All-Ireland Final. After all, good teams win the All-Ireland, but great teams win back-to-back All-Irelands.

If they want to make it to the All-Ireland Final though, they will have to beat the Bannermen of Clare.

The last time these two sides met in the Championship was back in 2016. Galway had lost the Leinster Final to Kilkenny and then went on to face Clare in the All-Ireland Quarter-Final. A victory went to Galway that year, but the Tribesmen were knocked out in the Semi-Finals by Tipperary.

Galway have marked themselves as being the most impressive team currently in this Championship. They remain unbeaten. Clare now face the task of trying to break the Tribesmen down, though this will not be easily done.

Looking at Clare, they have gathered momentum throughout the Championship and they will now need to maintain if they want a win on Saturday evening. They have had impressive wins so far, they sensationally knocked out Tipperary and denied Limerick a spot in the Munster Final.

During the Munster Final against Cork, the Bannermen showed glimpses of how good they are, but they also made numerous mistakes which cost them a Munster title as Cork went on to win. These will need to be ironed out as any mistake will prove costly against Galway.

This match will get underway at 5pm on Saturday. You can purchase tickets here. It will broadcast live on both RTÉ and Sky Sports.

Then get ready for Limerick v Cork

The second All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final is an eagerly anticipated meeting between Cork and Limerick on Sunday afternoon. This match is shaping up to be the battle of Munster and it is too close to call!

Cork will enter this match as Munster Champions, whereas Limerick are fresh off the back of their thrilling Quarter-Final win over Kilkenny, the first time the Treaty men have beaten the Cats since 1973.

These two sides met at the beginning of the round-robin stages of the Championship. A pure thrilling match, where both teams displayed exactly what they are made of, showing superb skills and scoring ability. Between the two of them, there was a massive 54 scores.

Both are capable. Cork are probably the speediest team in the country. When they enter sixth gear, they are impossible to catch. Limerick are young and fruitful, but also extremely talented. They have players that have successfully transitioned from U-21 level to senior, and perhaps the fact that they have been questioned over the years will give them an extra edge.

One thing is for sure though, you will not want to miss this match. It will all get underway at 15:30 on Sunday afternoon. It will be broadcast live on RTÉ and Sky Sports. You can purchase tickets for the game right here.
