The question of the day is: can you ever have enough makeup brushes?  I’m leaning more towards no!  From blending brushes to highlight brushes, I want them all!  Usually, people either fall into one of two categories.  Either they have more brushes than they’ve had hot meals, or just not really that bothered with makeup brushes.  Whichever category you fall into, you still need to take care of your brushes and give them a bit of TLC every now and again.  Whether you own a total of three or three hundred brushes, these tips will help you keep those brushes spick and span!

Play it Safe

You can’t go wrong with water and a bit of baby shampoo or general brush cleaner – this is probably the most simple way of cleaning your brushes.  Simple dampen your brush, lather in a small amount of liquid and swirl in the palm of your hand.  Repeat a couple of times with just water (to make sure there’s no soap left) and voilà!  Check out our top tips for cleaning your brushes this particular way below, it’ll make this task a whole lot easier!

Tips to Live By

So you know a general idea, but there are a few things you can do to speed up the process and to protect your brushes too.  The more careful you are, the longer your brushes will last.  Also, we all know how important it is to keep those nasties off your brushes!

Give your brushes a thorough clean at least once a week. If you have any skin problems, go for 2/3 times a week.

Gently re-shape your brushes on a towel after the heavy wet has been taken off.

Leave the head of your brushes hanging off a flat surface to dry – such as a dresser or table.

Never leave your brushes standing upright or near a radiator when drying – doing this will affect the glue that holds the brush hairs together, which will cause the hairs to fall out.
