Day On My Plate: Shane Dowling’s Match Day Diet

It includes a roast dinner and a possible cheat meal!

When playing for an All-Ireland winning team like Limerick, Shane Dowling needs plenty of energy.

We sat down with the Na Piarsaigh club man to find out exactly what he eats on match day to make sure he is ready for any challenge that comes his way on the pitch!

Breakfast:

I would get up in the morning and I would have scrambled eggs, beans and brown toast to start off the day!

Before the Match:

We would meet as a team before any game. Some lads have chicken and pasta, but I prefer to have chicken with some roast potatoes. And with ketchup, I always add some ketchup!

Directly after the Match:

There are normally two options – either chicken or beef. I would normally go for the roast beef with some potatoes and gravy!

Before bed:

What I have in evening time will depend on how I play and the result. The outcome of the game will determine whether I treat myself or not. There would be no cheat meals if we lost!
