We caught up with Wexford hurler Diarmuid O’Keeffe to chat all things sport!

We asked Diarmuid about his sporting hero and his favourite game involved as a player.

Diarmuid O’Keeffe has truly made his mark on the hurling field as one of the most effective scoring defenders in the country.

He helped Wexford throughout their Leinster Championship campaign this summer, and the Yellow Bellies were unfortunate to narrowly miss out in a getting a spot in the Leinster Final. We chatted to Diarmuid to discuss all things sports, to find out what team he likes to see do well and who inspires him as his sporting hero!

What other team apart from your own do you like to see do well and why?

I always like to see Mayo do well in football, purely because they’ve fallen at the final hurdle time after time.

What was your favourite game that you were involved in as a player?

My favourite game so far would have to be the Leinster Semi-Final last year. We beat Kilkenny at home and made it to the Leinster Final!

What has been the worst game that you have been involved in as a player?

My least favourite game that I have been involved in was the 2015 Leinster Semi-Final. We played Kilkenny that year, it was a tough one.

If you could be any other sports person for the day, who would you be and why?

If I could be anyone, I would be Tadhg Furlong. I’ve admired his progress. I’d love him to be out on the wing and for me to be stuck in the front row!

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?

I would probably be playing soccer.

Who is your sporting hero?

Katie Taylor!

Can you describe your Style of Play in three words?

I would probably say it is simple, intelligent and quick!
