We each have our own reasons for getting fitter, and what better time to do that than for New Years? 

The ringing in of a new year brings with it a chance to start fresh and to strive to be the best you that you can be.

But achieving these things doesn’t need to be difficult! Here are some things you can do every day to help you get fitter for the New Year.

Those minutes add up

Most experts agree that to get fitter people have to exercise for anything between 30 minutes and an hour every day. However, finding this kind of time in your busy day can be difficult. So instead, try exercising for 10 minutes, three times a day.

Turn your daily chores into workouts

If you need to sweep the floors, really give it socks and turn it into a workout.

Cleaning the bathroom? Get those arms going! Put your headphones in and play some upbeat music to get you in the mood.

Practice Yoga at home

Yoga has lots of health benefits; it helps relieves stress and improves your fitness.

You don’t even need to be very skilled at yoga, or skilled at all! There are plenty of great yoga tutorials for complete beginners on YouTube.

Join a team

Team sports are a great way to get you motivated to work out. You have fun, make friends, learn and get fit in the process.

Put fruit in your water

If something tastes nice, you’ll be more likely to want it, so keep loads of water near by and pile in the fruit. One of the best things you can do to keep fit is to drink lots of water. Experts suggest you drink about 2 litres of water a day.

Take the stairs

Instead of taking the lift, try taking the stairs when you have the chance. You’d be surprised how much it adds up!

Try avoid carbohydrates in the evening

Carbohydrates are great for giving you energy throughout the day but your body needs to work harder to break them down, so cutting them down in the evening, when you are usually at your least active, would help your system to settle down and relax for the evening.
