There’s nothing we love more than a good list and in the run-up to a festival, it’s an absolute essential.
No matter how long we have to prepare, we almost always manage to forget something… whether it’s spare tissues for the portaloo or black bags for all those wet clothes!
With Electric Picnic on the horizon, we’ve put our heads together to compile the ultimate festival checklist and make sure that you have everything you need for the party of the year.
1. A fully charged phone
There is nothing worse than losing all your mates and realising that you’ve got no battery left. Not to mention missing out on those priceless Insta opportunities.
2. An old phone with an inexhaustible battery
One of the office’s seasoned festival-goers swears by bringing an old Nokia. Once your new smartphone dies, pop your sim card in and you’re sorted for the next few days!
3. A tent
It may seem obvious but not all tents were created equal. Make sure it’s waterproof and do a trail run in the garden before you leave to make sure you have all the bits and bobs.
4. A sleeping bag
Because a festival is a miserable, miserable place without one.
5. Black plastic bags
They’ll store your wet clothes, line the bottom of your tent, can be used to sit down on if the ground is wet, add an extra layer to your tent in a downpour – don’t go anywhere without them. The savvy campers go for the ‘extra strong’ variety.
6. Your fashion credentials
It may be a festival but that’s no reason to leave your style savvy at home. One piece of advice? Decide what you’re going to wear each day BEFORE you leave. It will make your bag lighter and save you from making any tough decisions once you get there. Just make sure that you have something warm for the evenings and a hat to cover that ‘day three’ hair.
And glitter. Lots of glitter.
7. Plenty of socks
One thing you’ll go through rakes of, is socks.
The fluffier, the better.
8. Enough wipes to last the weekend
Both baby wipes and make-up wipes are imperative for festival survival. You may plan to shower every day but with those crazy queues, it probably won’t happen.
9. Oral hygiene necessities
Toothpaste, a toothbrush and mouthwash are non-negotiable, people. Keep that breath fresh ‘n’ minty.
10. Loo roll
Desperate times call for desperate measures – and no one should be without toilet roll in their time of need.
Avoid dodgy situations, bring your own.
11. A bum bag
As cringe as these ‘fashion statements’ are, they are highly practical. You can keep valuables on your person at all times and it saves you from lugging around a heavy bag.
12. A torch
Despite it being called Electric Picnic, it’s actually pretty dark when the sun goes down and your iPhone probably won’t last the course. You’re better off bringing a torch just in case.
13. A hoodie
You will not, and I repeat WILL NOT, survive a festival without a hoodie. End of.
14. Hand sanitiser
Another absolute must-have to avoid feeling grubby and gross all weekend.
15. Feathers, floral headpieces and ALL your jewellery
Whether you’re a boho goddess or a throwback 80s revival, a festival is the perfect place to just be yourself. You do you.
