Here at Littlewoods Ireland, we understand the importance of a good pair of denims. They can make or break your outfit and we totally get how difficult it is to find the perfect pair to suit your body shape. So we’ve done a bit of research, and reckon we’ve cracked the code on shopping for the ideal fit. You’re welcome ladies!
If you’ve…a long torso
Do you have a long back, but short legs? While you may look tall, ill-fitting jeans can make you look a lot shorter, especially if you find your jeans bunch at the ankles. Choose a jean that’s super high-waisted, with a longer in-seam. This will give the illusion of longer legs and a shorter torso.
If you’ve…a short torso
Similar to having a long torso, you may look tall, however in actual fact you’re of average height, but your legs are longer than your torso. In this instance, we recommend jeans that sit nicely on the hips, elongating the torso, while making your legs look more in proportion.
Unless you’re in the market for a pair of ankle-grazers, because let’s face it, if you’re tall, pretty much all jeans are ankle-grazers, then finding a pair that won’t leave your ankles freezing in the winter can be a challenge, right? Well have we got news for you! Did you know that V by Very have a range exclusively of ‘tall’, meaning proper-fitting jeans?! Yay!
Mid to high-rise silhouettes, in a darker denim are super flattering for curvy figures. And similar to ‘tall’, V by Very also has an exclusive ‘curve’ range of jeans, so finding the perfect fit for your figure is a doddle!
If you’ve…a small bum
Okay, so we’ve been skipping our squats, and the peachy bottom that we dream of will be on hold until next summer! But if you want to give the illusion of a perkier bum (without hanging-leg-curl-glute-whatever they’re called!), then invest in a pair of jeans with large pockets on the bum. Pockets will provide more coverage, making it look in fact like your bum is bigger than it is.
If you’ve…wide hips
Are you in the same boat as Shakira? Do your hips ALSO not lie? Well don’t worry, because we’ve got a fit for you too. Try to avoid skinny jeans, as they tend to create an upside-down triangle shape, if your hips are much wider than your waist. Instead, opt for something more flared. This will balance out the width of your hips by drawing the eye down the body.
If you’ve…muscly thighs
Muscly thigh-gals, we support you! We know the plight of jeans that are the perfect length, perfect fit at the waist, but such a struggle to squeeze over your thighs. Choosing a pair of jeans in a looser fit, such as Mom, or Girlfriend-style will work wonders for your shape. Similar to having wide hips, flares and Mom-jeans are also a good fit for you, and will elongate the leg and draw the eye downwards.
You didn’t think we’d forget about you petite gals, did you? Well V by Very hasn’t either, and also carries a range of jeans specifically for girls 5’2″ and under.
