1. Killary Adventure Centre

Nestled along the southern shore of Killary Harbour, near Co. Galway, Killary Adventure Centre is the perfect getaway for an adventurous family. 

What you’ll be doing

It offers a wide range of activities for young and old alike, including kayaking, gorge walking, cliff jumps, rock climbing, archery, high ropes course, bungee jumps, the famous giant swing and so much more. 

Where you’ll be staying

Killary offers B&B and hostel-style accommodation. Bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms can accommodate two, four or six people and all have underfloor heating, which is perfect for warming up those toes after a day of adventure! 

Other adventurous things to do in the area: Go Aran island hopping and climb Dun Aengus, a prehistoric hill fort on Inishmore!

2. Allen Centre

Located on the beautiful shores of scenic Lough Allen, a stone’s throw from Carrick-on-Shannon and just a short stroll from the small town of Drumshanbo, the Allen Centre is a place of tranquility with lots of adrenaline-fuelled activities and amenities close to hand. 

What you’ll be doing

Lough Allen is well known for fishing and sailing, and the beautiful walks that surround the lough. If you want a relaxing sailing holiday or you want to learn to canoe, fish or windsurf with your family, you can enjoy it all here. 

Where you’ll be staying

Accommodation consists of eight en-suite bedrooms with three bunk beds to a room. Cooking facilities are also available, so you could make this a great value break! 

Other adventurous things to do in the area: A breathtaking, kid-friendly hike to the 50ft high Glencar Waterfall!

3. Teapot Lane Glamping

This has to be the most glamorous camping experiences out there! Teapot Lane Glamping is located in Co. Sligo and is all about giving guests the best experience.

What you’ll be doing

They suggest horse riding along the Wild Atlantic Way, surfing in the Atlantic or even enjoying a relaxing time in their on-site spa. They have camp fires every night, a children’s play area, an adorable fairy garden for little imaginations to run wild and Teapot Lane is also pet friendly so the whole family can come along! 

Where you’ll be staying

Whether it’s sleeping in a tree house, a luxury yurt or a cute country cottage, they’ve got it all.

4. Delphi Resort

Perhaps one of the best-known resorts on our list, and for good reason! Delphi is a stunning 4-star hotel, nestled into the heart of Connemara, and it has a world-class adventure centre and relaxing spa. 

What you’ll be doing

Delphi Resort offers so many activities, from yoga and fishing to water sports, land sports and a dedicated kids club. 

Where you’ll be staying 

Luxury at Delphi Resort doesn’t come at a huge cost. Even though it offers cosy double-rooms, Delphi also has comfortable dorm-room accommodation for a more budget-minded traveler. 

Other adventurous things to do in the area: Sligo is a surfer’s paradise, so why not pay a visit to Strandhill beach, one of the country’s most-raved-about surf spots? (Weather permitting, of course!)

5. Fota Wildlife Park and Resort

You have most definitely heard of Fota Wildlife Park and it has probably been on your to-do list for a while. Now is the time to finally make the trip with kids in tow – you won’t regret it! 

What you’ll be doing

See a kangaroo hop in front of you and the kids, watch the cheetahs being fed, or get up close to a ring-tailed lemur at this wildlife park, which is conveniently located just 15 minutes from Cork City. 

Where you’ll be staying

Fota Island Resort is the perfect place to stay with various bedrooms and self-catering lodges for the ultimate relaxing getaway. 

Other adventurous things to do in the area: Take Ireland’s only cable car out to Dursey island and witness the spectacular scenery of the Beara peninsula!

6. Carlingford Adventure Centre

The whole family can get fit together on an action-packed break to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Co. Louth. 

What you’ll be doing

You can try a new activity every day, including laser combat, orienteering, ziplining, foot golf, raft building and water trampolining. 

Where you’ll be staying

Accommodation is mainly in cosy holiday homes amid spectacular scenery, including forests, mountains and rivers, and is only a few minutes away from the lovely medieval coastal town of Carlingford.

Other adventurous things to do in the area: Whether you’re a seasoned horse-rider or a novice, young or old, Ravensdale Lodge specialises in supervised riding and trekking trips across the county.
