Padraic Maher is the current captain of the Tipperary senior hurling team. He’s an All-Star athlete, winning his fifth award at the 2017 PWC All-Stars last month, as well as captain of his club team at Thurles Sarsfields.

Off the pitch Padraic is a Garda, and in the limited down time that he has between playing, training and working he likes to relax with friends.

We sat down with the 28-year-old wing-back to chat about his likes and dislikes, his personal style and his love of pizza!

Favourite/least favourite gym exercise?

“My favourite would definitely be the squat bar, and the one I dislike the most would be pull ups.”

Favourite film?

“This would have to be American Gangster.”
