Five Movies To Get You In The Halloween Mood

*Wants to watch a scary movie, hides behind hands the whole time*

It’s almost time!  If you’re planning on staying in this Bank Holiday Weekend, we’ve got the perfect Halloween movies to get you in the mood for the spookiest holiday of the year.  And the best part?  They’re all on Netflix.

So stock up on your favourite Halloween treats, and enjoy these super scary flicks!

Carrie

This cult classic horror film staring Sissy Spacek, John Travolta and Amy Irving, shows an outcast teen with telekinetic ability, lash out with her deadly powers, when the high school “in crowd” torments her with a sick joke at prom.

Hostel

This 2005 horror film is one of unimaginable torture, and one that we certainly haven’t forgotten it since we first clapped eyes on it 13 years ago!  When three friends (Jay Hernandez, Derek Richardson and Eythor Gudjonsson) embark on a trip to Slovakia in search of a hostel, said to be brimming with wanton women, they get a hell of a lot more than they bargained for!  Director, Eli Roth has been involved in hundreds of horror movies, such as Cabin Fever, The Stranger and The Last Exorcist, so he knows a thing or two about gore!

Little Evil

This Netflix original puts a humorous spin on horror, for those of us who want Halloween vibes, but don’t want to be scared out of our wits!  In this horror-comedy, a recently married man (Adam Scott), who wants to bond with his new stepson begins to fear that the boy is in fact, a demon!

I Know What You Did Last Summer

While this phrase is one of the classic lines that was made a mockery of in the Scary Movie franchise, the original movie is far from comedic!  When some drunk teenagers flatten a stranger with their car and leave him for dead, the victim returns a year later to exact revenge.  Starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, this movie is certainly a blast from the past, but definitely stands the test of time.

The Amityville Horror

If supernatural horror films are your bag, then Netflix has plenty!  But one that definitely stands out in our mind is the 2005 (I know, we can’t believe it’s been that long ago, either!), hair-raising remake of the 1979 classic, and depicts the ordeal of the Lutz family, whose new home has a gory past and a legacy of demons!

Fiona Hyland

Fiona loves nothing more than discovering new cities, brunch on Sundays, and a good documentary. If you don't find her cooking up a storm in the kitchen, you'll find her in an interiors store, feeding her very real blanket addiction.
