Today is International Day of Happiness – so get smiling!
This is the fifth year the World Health Organisation has celebrated International Day of Happiness, which recognises happiness as a fundamental human goal.
Being a little down in the dumps is something we’re all familiar with, but we’re keen to change that.
There are plenty of things that you can do to put a smile on your face – and to those around you. Try some of these tips and tricks and see what works for you!
Express gratitude regularly
It’s so good for your wellbeing. Telling those around you that you appreciate and love them will make you both happy. It’s a win-win!
Being kind, charitable and giving is an excellent way to improve your happiness.
Work on your relationships
Real contentment comes from having deep and lasting connections with the people around you. So put some quality time into your friendships and relationships and see the benefits for yourself.
Set and work towards goals
Without goals, you have nothing to grow towards and aim for. Whether it is in your personal life or your career, goals are what keep you focused and happy.
Make time for what matters
Making time for what really matters – your family, your friends or your hobbies – is the perfect way to de-stress and relax.
Exercise is the greatest trick to get happy. Exercise releases dopamine, which is the chemical form of happiness.
Be a realist optimist
Optimism is great for seeing the good in people and in situations – but make sure you keep it realistic to avoid disappointment.
