Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have announced that they are to divorce after just 15 months of marriage.
The couple are understood to have separated on May 22 and the actress has since filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
The split comes just days after Depp’s mother Betty Sue Palmer passed away aged 81, following a long illness.
The 52-year-old actor married Heard in February 2015 and the pair are not believed to have signed a prenuptial agreement.
Given Depp’s $400m fortune, the Magic Mike XXL star is said to be seeking spousal support but the actor has asked a judge to reject her claim for maintenance.
While no reason has been given for the split, several media sources are claiming that Heard did not get on with Depp’s family and his children Lily-Rose and John from his previous relationship with Vanessa Paradis.
TMZ has said that Johnny’s mother believed that the actress was using him “for money and to boost her own career”.
Another celeb couple have also gone their separate ways this week, with Professor Green and Millie Mackintosh being granted a quickie divorce.
The couple married in 2013 and Made In Chelsea star Mackintosh cited “unreasonable behaviour” as the grounds for their separation.
