There’s never a dull moment in Summer Bay and things are about to get even more dramatic over the next few months.
As we recently revealed, Australian viewers watched as Charlotte King was killed by an unseen assailant in the series finale of Home And Away in December and it has now been confirmed that a series regular will be accused of her murder.
Charlotte’s web of deception, including her involvement in the death of Denny and relationship with student Matt, was revealed prior to her death so the line of possible suspects is long.
According to producer Lucy Addario, barrister Morag Bellingham (pictured below) will return to the Bay in an upcoming episode after brother Alf asks her to defend a Summer Bay resident who has been wrongfully charged with Charlotte’s death.
“Alf calls on Morag to defend someone who has been accused of Charlotte’s murder. She is ruthless and determined,” Addario told TV Week, who also added that there was an action-packed year ahead on the soap.
“There is a lot coming up in the first half of the year. There will be a wedding and the arrival of the Morgan family. Amongst all that drama, there is going to be a proposal, a court case that may see a Summer Bay favourite locked up for years and some new romances!”
Actress Ada Nicodemou, who plays Leah Baker, also teased the upcoming storyline and promised that viewers would be kept guessing about the true identity of Charlotte’s killer.
“There’s a whole lot of suspects. One week you think it’s one person, the next week you think it’s another, and we didn’t even know. No-one was allowed to know. Even the actual person who did it – as in, a lot of us shot an ending. We shot a whole lot of different endings.
“It takes a long time and people get wrongly accused. Someone gets taken to jail who didn’t actually do it. Basically Charlotte is dead but she keeps ruining all our lives in the Bay for a long time.”
