Is there any better feeling than having a fresh, glowing tan? That is until almost everything goes wrong and you have a complete tanning disaster on your hands, and everywhere else! We’ve all been there, and the majority of the time, it’s when you want your tan to look only fabulous. Check out these top tips to avoid having a tanning disaster, and what to do to fix any tan calamities!
Streaks and Blotches
Even when you have an ideal tan that doesn’t streak or blotch on your skin, it can still happen when you least expect it! To ensure a flawless application, it’s all about the prep. Ensure you exfoliate and moisturise prior to your tan application, you’ll be surprised at the difference it makes! Check out more tips on exfoliation and moisturising before your tan application right here.
Another way to avoid any streaks or blotches is to opt for a false tan that has a guide colour. That way you can see exactly where you’re applying your tan, so you’re one step closer to a flawless glow. We love the St Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse, as well as having a fabulous guide colour, it leaves a gorgeous glow to the skin!
Top tip! When you’re ready to rinse your guide colour off, don’t just hop into the shower as you normally would. Rinse your tan off starting from your feet and work your way upwards. This is the ideal way to avoid any streaks that could ruin your fabulous tan!
Dark and Dodgy Hands
One area that can be tough to tan right is your hands. It’s one area that’s always visible, yet can be so hard to get perfect. Whether they end up too dark, patchy or blotchy, there’ one way to achieve perfectly tanned hands, every time! Swap your tanning glove for a kabuki foundation brush and mix a little moisturiser with the tan before applying. Easy peasy! Read all about this tanning hack right here.
The Top Tips
We all have those moments when we throw on tan faster than the speed of light. But really, it never ends well! So when tanning disasters just can’t be avoided, here are some top tips on how to fix your tan in a hurry!
When life gives you lemons, use them for tan removal! Chop a lemon in half and rub on that dodgy area of tan for a couple of minutes. The lemon will break down and remove the tan, so you’ll just have to fill in the patch – ideal! Fill in the patch with an instant tan like Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. Use a little at a time to achieve a flawless look.
Feel as if your tan is too dark? Take a dip in the pool! The chlorine in a swimming pool will break down your tan in a jiffy.
If your tan has turned out darker in certain parts of your skin (this will be mainly caused by dry skin) rub some reliable baby oil onto the areas and leave on for 30 minutes before showering off. Voilá!
