This chilly Monday morning marks the start of lazy mornings, fun-filled days and no homework.  It is, of course, mid-term break!  If you have kids, you’re well tuned into the fact that’s it’s mid-term break.  You’ve probably been hearing all about it the past two weeks.  Whether you’re out working yourself or trying to get your usual bits done at home, it’s going to feel like a long week if there are no plans in place to keep the little ones entertained.  These are sure ways of keeping everyone entertained, both indoors and out.

Braving the Spring Chills

It’s not good for anyone to be cooped inside all day (although we do admit sometimes a Netflix day is needed!) so grab your winter coat and step out into the chilly spring air.  There’s plenty to do outdoors to keep the whole family entertained.

Castlecomer Discovery Park

Castlecomer Discovery Park is reopening their doors for the first mid-term of 2018.  From archery and climbing walls to canoeing and walking trails, there’s something for everyone.  It’s sure to be a fun-filled day for all the family, particularly for the kids who are just full of energy!

Picnics in Stephen’s Green

Never mind the cold, as long as it’s not raining, wrap up warm and grab a basket full of tasty treats.  Take a stroll down to St. Stephen’s Green for the perfect picnic spot.  Or, if that’s more of a trek than a stroll, there’s plenty of fab places around Ireland.  Check out these top spots for a stroll and a picnic.

Pirate Vibes

Do you have a little guy or gal that’s just pirates obsessed?  If so, they’re going to love this!  Pirates Cove is fun for all ages.  Water trampolines, bowling, fun caves.  You name it, Pirates Cove has it.  Make a day for it and take a mini road trip to Courtown Harbour.

Staying Cosy Indoors

Don’t feel like braving the cold?  Fancy a lazy day or two?  We know the feeling!  Rather than listening to their favourite film on repeat all day, there’s plenty of ways to keep the kids entertained indoors too.

A Day of Dress Up

Who wouldn’t love a day of dress up?  If there’s plenty of old Halloween outfits at the back of a wardrobe somewhere, take full advantage!  If the perfect little outfits aren’t at hand, get creative and see what you can conjure up from everyday clothes.  The little ones will love it!

Baking Bandwagon

Jump on that baking bandwagon this mid-term and get the kids involved in making some tasty treats!  These tasty brownies will be sure to go down a treat with the whole family.  Or, turn Pancake Tuesday into a two (or even three) day event.  After all, pancakes are super simple and they’re a family favourite!

Old School Boardgames

When kids think of games, the first thing that probably comes to mind is PlayStation or Xbox.  Instead, why not break out the ‘old-school’ board games for an evening of family fun?  From Cluedo to Twister, it’s hard to pick a favourite!
