The finale of season 4 raised more questions and intrigue than we would have liked – why couldn’t they have just wrapped up everything nicely? Instead, we saw our favourite characters venture into the unknown after more sensational plot twists and turns, and we have had to wait a YEAR to see what they’ve been up to.
After what has arguably been the best season to date we’re going to take a moment away from the gore and guts of the show and get back to all things dresses. When they’re not warring in Westeros, the ladies from Game of Thrones are racking up some serious style points off-screen.
From sassy bodycons and cutesy floral midi skirts, to something a little bit more modest, the girls have inspired some truly great outfits. Here are some of my favourite looks from the Game of Thrones gals and how you can recreate them on a budget.
Who doesn’t love a classic lace dress? There’s something about it that appeals to those with a girly, sophisticated and even quirky sense of style. Nathalie Emmanuel is obviously a fan too. This Amy Childs Long Sleeve Lace Panel Dress is so similar to Nathalie’s! It is designed to flatter your body in all of the right places, so it’s a total win-win. Throw your bits and bobs into this simple Clemmie Patent Clutch Bag and you’ve got a great look suitable for any occasion.
Bold Floral Print
I love a good bodycon, but sometimes I also like a dress to be a bit old-fashioned and flowery. But then I thought, “why not combine the two?” Behold, the Club L Floral Asymmetric Dress! It has all the sexiness of a bodycon with some delicate floral prints thrown in for good measure and it’s a total steal at €19! This is a great look for a hen party. Wear with these cute Shoe Box block sandals.
The Non-Boring Black Dress
Black dresses are just like blue jeans: totally reliable and classic, but can need a little “something” to keep them from looking boring. Lena Headey favoured a black maxi gown with a quirky asymmetric neckline to keep her Emmy Awards outfit from looking dull. I’ve found another way of making your black dress pop in the form of cut-out details. This French Connection Jersey Maxi Dress has just that. Wear with these Lipsy Platform Court Shoes for a glam evening ensemble.
I loved the feminine skater style skirt Maisie Williams wore to last year’s Golden Globe after party. So, I’ve set about recreating her look on a budget using my favourite Littlewoods Ireland pieces. I just love this floral Definitions Midi Skirt– perfect for this time of year- paired with this Definitions Lace Top. Wear with some cute and girly shoes, like these Clarks Block Heel Shoes and you’ve got yourself a look that’s perfect for a wedding or even heading to the races this summer.
White Dress for Older Ladies
If you’re looking for something that’s age appropriate without lacking in style check out this look using this South Shift Dress inspired by Michelle Fairley.
The cut-out details on the white dress give it an interesting spin, but the classic shift silhouette will see you through many seasons to come. Wear with these stylish and comfortable (and more importantly, walkable!) Clarks Ankle Strap Court Shoes and you’ve got yourself a great “anytime” outfit.
