The rumours were confirmed earlier this week, with Laura Whitmore officially confirmed as part of the Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
The Bray woman will join UK politician Ed Balls and singer Will Young in the battle for the glitter ball and in her first interview about the competition, she admitted to being scared by the thought of dancing in the live shows.
“I have watched Strictly and been obsessed with the show since series one. It’s an incredible show and I feel so honoured to be asked to be a part of it. I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly petrified too,” she said.
The 31-year-old stepped down from her role as presenter of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Now earlier this year and revealed that her work commitments had previously prevented her from taking part in the popular series.
Laura added that she had been “afraid they wouldn’t ask me again” but agreed a deal to take part in the competition some time ago.
Producers used Shakespearean code names to keep the identities of the entrants under wraps, with the former MTV News host choosing ‘Lady Macbeth’.
“I’ve known for a while but it’s so secretive – you’ve got fake names and stuff!”
While Laura’s skills on the dancefloor remain to be seen, she will have some great advice from BFF Caroline Flack – who won the competition in 2014.
The Love Island presenter was one of the first people to react to the news on Twitter, giving Whitmore her full backing.
