Five Minutes With…Clare hurler Peter Duggan

We challenged the Clare forward to our quickfire round of questions!

It has been a great year for Clare hurler Peter Duggan. He was one of Clare’s key men this summer as they found themselves back in Croke Park for the first time since 2013.

And will we ever forget the phenomenal point he scored against Galway in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi Final? To top off a good year, Peter is all nominated for a PwC All-Star!

We sat down with Peter for five minutes, to find out more about the hurler behind the helmet. We challenged the Spancil Hill man to our quickfire round of questions to see what his ultimate cheat meal is and what’s in his matchday sandwich!

Favourite movie of all time?

Good Will Hunting – a serious flick!

Tea or Coffee?

Tea, 100%! I could easily have 7 cups of tea in a day depending on where I am! In the early morning, I might venture for a coffee but I normally have tea!

Ultimate cheat meal?

A steak sandwich. I would go home to my mother and get her to make me it! It’s a cheat meal because I layer it with everything!

Favourite gym exercise?

Biceps and triceps

Least favourite exercise?

Squats!

Favourite TV Show?

I would say Suits. No actually, it would be Game of Thrones.

Inspirational Quote you live by?

Treat others as you would like to be treated. I remember my secondary school teacher Sister Bosco taught us that and it was one that always stuck.

Favourite music?

I like a bit of trad! I enjoy a good trad band now and I have a few songs in the bank. I am from Spancil Hill, so I would be one of those lads on a night out that would be staying away from a nightclub and heading towards the old man pub.

What’s your match day sandwich?

I wouldn’t have a sandwich. I would always have a big huge breakfast. I would have salmon, scrambled eggs, toast. And then I would only have something small after.

Dogs or cats?

Dogs, definitely dogs! I am waiting to buy a Doberman!

Favourite holiday destination?

Ideally, I would love to go to the Bahamas. I have been to Puerto Banus which was amazing!
