Known for his sharp saving ability, Kilkenny’s Eoin Murphy is regarded as one of the best hurling goalkeepers in the country.
We sat down for five minutes with the Glenmore club man to find out more about the hurler behind the helmet!

Tea or Coffee?
For the past 18 months or so, I have been working on the road. So, coffee!
Favourite movie of all time?
Anchorman! I am more of a comedy person. Don’t get me wrong, I do like some serious films. But, we would always be laughing and joking at home and pulling pranks on each other. Anchorman and Step Brothers for their one-liners alone are absolute gold!
Ultimate cheat meal?
Chips and a portion of scallops! Waterford people will know what scallops are. It is not the fish ‘scallop’. It basically a pan-fried battered potato! So a portion of chips and scallops out of Johnnie Walkers in Waterford is my cheat meal!
Favourite gym exercise?
Box jumps!
Least favourite exercise?
Running!

Favourite TV Show?
At the moment, we are watching the new season of Power!
Inspirational Quote you live by?
‘Esse quam videri’ – it means ‘to be rather than to seem.’
Favourite music?
I would say Arctic Monkeys, I was at their concert there a few weeks ago. It was absolutely brilliant. I saw them in Marley Park a few years ago. They are so good!
What’s your match day sandwich?
It would have to be luncheon meat! We were always given that as children. Also, it would be a ‘luncheon blaa’ rather than a sandwich! A blaa is a floury, soft bap! I went to college in Waterford, and we are from south Kilkenny, it is the local delicacy!
Dogs or cats
Oh dogs, definitely! I have two dogs at home.
Favourite holiday destination?
Cancún, it is a savage place!
