Five Minutes with…Limerick hurler Shane Dowling

We challenged Shane to our quick fire round of questions!

It has been a pretty good year for Limerick hurler Shane Dowling. After 45 years, the Limerick team lifted the Liam McCarthy Cup and brought it back Shannonside.

We sat down with Shane and challenged him to our quickfire round of questions to find out all about what he likes off the pitch – from his ultimate cheat meal to his matchday sandwich!

Favourite movie of all time?

Big Daddy!

Tea or Coffee?

Ultimate cheat meal?

Spare ribs and chips from the Shamrock Chinese! Oh no, actually, two battered sausages and fish and chips from Freda’s!

Who was your childhood hero?

Tony McCoy.

Favourite gym exercise?

I don’t really have one, but I better say I do! Probably, the bench press.

Least favourite exercise?

Favourite TV Show?

Saved by the Bell.

Tell us a weird fact about yourself.

I sleep with the radio on, it puts me right to sleep!

Favourite music?

James Blunt.

What’s your match day sandwich?

It would have to be chicken, ham and cheese. With ketchup as well!

Dogs or cats?

You see, I have a cat for 20 years but I don’t like it. And I hate dogs, so probably neither to be honest.

Favourite holiday destination?

Bora Bora! I have never been, but I want to go. Other than that I would have to say Albufeira!
