Inter-county hurlers have played countless matches. From underage to senior level, they have taken to the pitch on many occasions!
But we here at Littlewoods Ireland wanted to find out which match stood out the most. So, we asked some hurlers what has been their favorite game that they have ever been involved in and why!
Conor Whelan – Galway
“The 2017 All-Ireland Final – for obvious reasons!”
Jason Forde – Tipperary
“The 2016 All-Ireland Final. It was amazing to get over the line then. It was the biggest game that I have played in so that was probably my favourite.”
Aaron Gillane – Limerick
“That is a tricky one now. I would say the favourite game for me that I have played in would have been the 2016 County Final when we (Patrickswell) beat Ballybrown in the Final. We beat them by 19 points, so we were able to enjoy the occasion. That made it a bit more special. The All-Ireland Final this year was obviously great but we didn’t really have time to enjoy it because it was so tense. But that County Final we were certainly able to enjoy the match, because we won by so many points.”
Peter Duggan – Clare
“I would say the game against Tipperary this year. Beating them in Thurles definitely stands out!”
Austin Gleeson – Waterford
“Even though we didn’t win, I would probably have to say the game against Kilkenny, two years ago in the All-Ireland Semi-Final replay in Thurles. It was a Saturday night, at 7 o’clock, the atmosphere was incredible. It was touch and go the whole game. We had a free to draw equal in the last seconds. Richie Hogan got another point then, so it didn’t go our way, but it was still one of my favourite games.”
Shane Dowling – Limerick
“It has to be the All-Ireland Final this year!”
Eoin Murphy – Kilkenny
“It would have to be the 2014 All-Ireland Final Replay against Tipperary. I played well so it stands out for that reason. It so special and I could never forget it!”
