The other girls from Girls

Lena Dunham’s work of art, Girls, is back and gracing our screens with a brand new season. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it may feel like watching the scandalous lives of four edgy New York women is something you’ve seen before. But trust me, this is no Sex and the City clone. And Hannah is certainly no Carrie “I just write one column a week but can still afford $600 pairs of shoes and an apartment in Manhattan” Bradshaw.

Sometimes the show gets very real. So real that you start to think the happiest thing about the lives of these girls is their quirky selection of party dresses. I’m not sure if any of the girls would make great life role models, but it doesn’t stop them from being fashion role models!

Here’s how you can steal the style of Marnie, Shoshanna and Jessa right here at Littlewoods Ireland.

Jessa

Did you know that Jemima Kirke, who plays the character Jessa, is an artist and never really considered herself an actress? She was coaxed into appearing on Girls as a favour for her friend Lena Dunham.

Jemima Kirke Golden Globes instagramJessa, the worldly nomad, can bring a sense of carefree to an otherwise neurotic ensemble cast. Her easy, breezy attitude is reflected in her bohemian fashion sense. She’s all about making flowing fabrics and mismatched prints look chic. To get her look, wear this Sheer Printed Beach Skirt with a Glamorous Lace Kimono, layered over a vintage-inspired Joe Browns Vibrant Versatile White Cami. Don’t be afraid to mix more glam elements with rustic ones. For example, these glitzy Lipsy Flower Drop Earrings will look cool and eclectic when worn with 1970s style Clarks Studio Star Flat Sandals. Finish off your look with minimal eye make-up and vibrant Bourjois Rouge Edition 12 Hour Lipstick in Cherry My Cherie.

Marnie

Marnie from GirlsIf only Marnie’s life was as well put-together as her fashion sense. Sigh! To achieve her simple and elegant look, choose a timeless dress like this Definitions Peplum Dress and pair with simple Shoe Box Palma Point Court Microsuede Shoes.

Marnie likes to keep her make-up fresh and girly. This Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Champagne is perfect for getting a similar look. Keep accessories simple with these Guess Crystal Heart Earrings.

Shoshanna

girls-ShoshannajpgShoshanna’s style is probably closest to Carrie’s. The mad versions of a bun hairstyle, the big skater skirts and the net hairpieces on someone under 23 makes her the character with the funnest (and at times funniest) wardrobe.

If you could borrow anything from her girly and whimsical style, it would be the confidence to experiment with mixing bright colours with bold patterns. This South Lace Hem Top tucked into this Oasis Skirt and broken up with this Waist Belt is a fun look straight out of Shoshanna’s book.

The pink and black colour scheme even matches her cutesy apartment. Keep accessories playful with these Shoe Box Ballerina Shoes and add another pattern in a similar colour way with this Floral Clutch.
