Our summers are notoriously short-lived so when the sun finally comes out, you need to jump on it and get your BBQ sizzling fast. Because when the sun is gone – it’s gone!
A BBQ is a great way to make the most of the sunshine and catch up with friends and family, and it’s easier to put together than you’d imagine. I’m feeling hopeful for the June bank holiday, so here are some top decorating tips as well as some healthy BBQ recipes for you to try out. I’ve even found you a couple of maxi dress / sandal combos to wear.
Recipe for the Perfect BBQ
First, there’s obviously going to be one thing that you need – an actual barbeque. If you don’t already have one, there’s no better time to browse our selection of charcoal and gas barbeques.
Next up, set the scene. If you’re feeling ambitious, get some decorating inspiration from Donal Skehan’s ‘Feast’ Pinterest board. Or if you want to keep things simple, hang up some Smart Solar Filigree Ceramic Globe LED String Lights and Paper Pom Poms. For music, a current compilation album like Now That’s What I Call Music: Volume 90 (yes, there really have been that many of them!) will get people grooving.
Now for the most important part; the food. Susan Jane White’s BBQ-flavoured sweet potato fries are a great and super-healthy alternative to regular chips and taste so good. Try a healthier way of cooking Pork ribs with this recipe: par-boil them before barbecuing.
Here are some more healthy barbeque recipes. All we need now is the sun, and the outfit to match.
What to Wear
Because I have every confidence that the BBQ you host will be just such a flaming success (literally), chances are in the next few weeks one of your friends will try their hand at throwing an outdoor summer party as well.
For this reason, I’ve found you not one, but two great options to wear to each of the parties. First up is this South Strappy Printed Maxi Dress. Because it’s patterned, it’s decorative enough to just wear this Oasis Bracelet Stack with. These Carvela Kabby Wedge Sandals would look great with it too.
For something more vintage-inspired, this South Tall Jersey Bandeau Maxi Dress paired with this South Printed Jersey Kimono would look amazing. Jazz it up further with this Oasis Collar Necklace and Carvela Klipper Flat Sandals.
