We’re knee deep in the politics of the General Election at the moment but we’ve already got one eye on another political battle.
The excellent House Of Cards returns to Netflix on March 4th, with the end of season three leaving tensions fraught between Frank and Claire Underwood.
The race is on for the White House and show bosses have just released a new trailer, teasing the action and intrigue to come.
Showrunner Beau Willimon has already revealed that much of the coming season will focus on the relationship between the power couple and, specifically, whether Frank can cope without his wife’s support.
“That’s one of the big questions going into season four,” he said.
“A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back. We also realized we’d laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain.”
Willimon recently announced that while the show will return for a fifth season, he will not be at the helm as he is moving on to other projects.
“After five years and four seasons, it’s time for me to move on to new endeavours, but I’m supremely proud of what we’ve built together, wish the show much continued success, and leave it in the hands of a very capable team.”
