Visiting a Christmas market (or two) is one of our favourite Xmas traditions, and it wouldn’t really feel like the festive season without a mug of hot chocolate, gingerbread and a stroll around the stalls.

While the world renowned markets hail from places like Germany and Austria, our little isle is definitely holding its own in the battle of the best Christmas markets.

You don’t need to skate off to Munich to visit an incredible market. Instead you could just go to …

Galway

Galway’s Christmas market is definitely the best known market in the country. The city will once again see itself transformed into a winter wonderland.

Visit Galway’s Christmas market between November 18 and December 22 – it’s not to be missed!

Waterford

Waterford Winterval is returning to Waterford again this year and it is more popular than ever. They have free events and ticketed events running throughout the festival, from films to craft days, so there is something to do for all the family.

Visit Waterford between November 25 to December 23.

Cork

GLOW invites you to enjoy festive entertainment and cuisine at the festival Food Market on the Grand Parade. You can also soar high above Cork on a 30 metre ferris wheel and enjoy amazing views of the city.

It isn’t on every day though! You can visit between 12 noon to 8.30pm, every weekend (Friday – Sunday) until December 18.

Belfast

For the last eleven years, Belfast’s City Hall has been transformed into a traditional Germanic Christmas market. It is absolutely jampacked with over 90 hand-crafted wooden stalls.

This year, Belfast’s Christmas market has invited traders from Germany, Spain, France, Italy and, of course, Ireland.

It kicks off on Saturday November 19 and runs up until Thursday December 23.

So nice!!! 👍🏽
