We may think that we’re well able to stand on our own two feet once we move out of home but it seems that we all need a little help from our mammies now and again.
A new survey carried out by Belvita Breakfast has shown that the average Irish adult calls their mother at least four to five times a week, with almost a quarter of adults contacted by their mam at least four days in seven.
Over 50 per cent of people still go home to their parents every week for Sunday lunch and 27 per cent admit their mother has the alarm code and keys for their homes in case of emergency.
We all have our favourite Mammy phrases but the old classic “you’d forget your head if it wasn’t screwed on” was voted the best ‘Irish Mammyism’, with a third of those surveyed also revealing that their mother still comments on their appearance.
Meanwhile, it seems that some of her pearls of wisdom hit home as 70 per cent of adults agreed that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
No matter how old we get, we’ll never be too old for a telling off from our Mammy!
