From lazy Sundays spent on the sofa, to kicking back after a long day of work to catch up on your favourite TV shows, having a comfortable couch is paramount to our daily lives. While it can be tempting to splash out on a super trendy Scandi-style, arm-less two seater, are they really practical for everyday living?
Finding the perfect sofa can be a challenge, but with some careful consideration, you can choose a couch that’s as comfortable as it is stylish. You just need to ask yourself a couple of questions to determine the perfect sofa for you.
What space do you have?
First things first, consider your space. From the size, to the colour scheme, to the general vibe of your living room. It’s all very well finding a lounge set that you love, if it doesn’t fit with your over all interior design. If your space is on the small side, consider a snuggler (a piece of furniture that’s just big enough for two to cuddle up on). Not only are they super modern and stylish, but won’t take up your entire living room either.
If you do have a grand living space, then you’re going to need a suite that complements the size. Think of a large Chesterfield sofa, or chaise lounge to ensure your furniture doesn’t look to small for the room.
How do you spend your time?
Consider how you like to spend your time to determine the orientation of your sofa. Do you like to veg out in front of the TV? Then make sure your sofa faces that way, or, more importantly, will fit facing the TV. Do you like to host guests? Consider creating a semi-circle or even a full circle out of your lounge furniture.
On a scale of 1-10, how important is comfort?
Comfort is key. We’ve already touched on this, but really, there’s no point in choosing a sofa that you’re no doubt going to have for years to come, without ensuring it’s fit for purpose. Fabric sofas are without doubt the comfiest of all of the styles, so really you can’t go wrong!
