In the run-up to International Women’s Day, we asked some of our employees what exactly this day means to them and what it is that inspires them.
Meet Annelie, who works in the Marketing department in our Dublin office!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to work in fashion. So I suppose I landed on my feet. Ironically though after college, I considered life as a tax consultant but decided to go down the route of fashion & retail. I started out my career in window merchandising before moving to the marketing department. For me, it was always hard work that got me to my next adventure and I never regretted not being a tax consultant!
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Go forward, fast. Learn quickly.
What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s a day to herald gender parity and one where we stand as one.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Keep exercising, eating well, living life in balance. Take rest and recreation regularly. The older you get, the more you’ll understand why.
What’s your favourite most empowering quote?
It is very rare or almost impossible that an event can be negative from all points of view.
Be sure to check back in on a daily basis in the run-up to International Women’s Day as we will be sharing another fabulous Littlewoods Ireland employee each day!
