The humble zip is about to become a hot fashion trend this autumn!
It might have taken over 100 years (the zip was invented in 1893) but this season exposed zips will be a style statement as the catwalk trend hits the high street.
Paris Fashion Week was full of them, with Alexander Wang and Stella McCartney using decorative zippers as a squiggly embellishment.
If you love your biker jackets and scoff at sequins, then zips shall be your embellishment of choice. Here are three of our favourite ways to wear zips from our Autumn/Winter collection. Browse the full selection of zip embellished dresses on Littlewoods Ireland.
This red bodycon Savoir Zip Dress couldn’t be more fashion forward. It hits two Autumn/Winter trends in one – exposed zips and the colour red! The zip down the front is the perfect example of exposed zips acting as functional embellishments.
And the zips on the hips draw the eye to the nipped in waistband and emphasise an hourglass shape. We also love how the side panels really contour the body. As this bodycon number is really eye-catching, keep your accessories simple. Team this dress with these Clarks Turin Dreaming Peep Toe Boots and add an elegant black clutch with its own exposed zip for a cool day to night look.
Zip [dress] code
If you buy one dress this season make it this Diesel Zip Detail Denim number. It’s the perfect update on the classic LBD and will work really hard in your wardrobe.
Wear it to work this with these black platform shoe boots and you can head straight out on a Friday for a casual night at the pub. Or ramp up the style factor for a Saturday night on the town with these leopard print court shoes.
Zip by the hip
Zips in unexpected places are another part of the trend and this Definition 3D Effect dress is a great example. The added zips at the bottom of this dress give it a real industrial edge.
